3) Licensed man & van waste collectors
Another option is to hire a licensed man & van rubbish collector. This is a great alternative if the council can't collect the items you have, if you need a collection done quickly or urgently or if you can't lift the items yourself. Man & van collectors can clear most types of waste, can come on the day if necessary and can go inside your property to help.
Man & van rubbish removal prices depend on the type and amount of waste you have. If you need an urgent removal doing, this is likely to cost a bit more.

Skips are useful if you have messy waste or rubble to get rid of. However, unlike man & van collectors, you'll need to load the skip yourself. Skip prices are fixed so it doesn't matter how full or empty the skip is, you'll pay the same. It's usually much more expensive to hire a skip because of additional permit and license fees.

Skip hire prices in Norwich
Below are typical skip hire prices (including VAT) for a mixed general waste skip in Norwich. The prices represent a hire period of 14 days. They don't include the necessary skip permits or parking bay suspensions for Norwich.
Builder skip: 6 - 8 cubic yard skip @ £260 - £270
Maxi skip: 10 - 12 cubic yard skip @ £325
Skip permits and bay suspensions
You only need a skip permit if you’re going to put the skip on a public highway (a verge, path or road that is not within your property). Your skip hire company will apply for the skip permit and add it to the final price. This is because you need a waste carrier’s certificate to apply for the permit through the council.
