Booking required?

No, you don't need to book to visit any of Croydon's recycling centres. However, you must have a permit or ID to take a vehicle onto any of the sites. All you need to do is bring ID when you visit the site for the first time. Then display the permit in your vehicle each time you visit.

This rule was introduced in 2017 to try and reduce waiting times and additional costs for residents.

Vehicle access and restrictions at the tips

All 3 sites allow cars. However, cars with trailers are prohibited. Vans - only allowed at Factory Lane Recycling Centre and subject to the following restrictions:

  • maximum 6 bags of rubble
  • can only enter Tuesday and Wednesday between 11am–1pm
  • maximum 5 metres long and 2.6 metres high
  • no Tippers or Luton vans
  • Trade waste not allowed (i.e waste created as result of works undertaken by a contractor / builder etc)

Items accepted at any Croydon recycling centre

Each site will accepy a wide range of waste material for recycling, including:

  • household waste in black bags
  • garden waste
  • small electrical goods
  • small bulky waste items

The council recommends you sort waste into these groups before leaving home to cut down the amount of time you need to spend at the tip unloading and sorting. This helps keep the the recycling centre as efficient as possible.

Prohibited Items

The following items are not accepted at any Croydon recycling centre:

The City of London offers a hazardous waste collection service.

Trade and business waste

Any waste generated by a business can't be disposed of at Croydon's tips. This is because they are for household waste only. Please see Croydon council's business, trade and commercial waste solutions instead.

Reuse options

There is a Community Reuse Shop where you can donate reusable items for others to use again. The shop refurbishes and resells electronics, homeware, books, toys, sports equipment and musical instruments. You can access the shop by car or on foot.

Location: Fishers Farm Recycling Centre

Hours: Fridays 9-4, Saturdays 9-1, Sundays 9-12.

Alternatives for Croydon residents

Disposal at Croydon recycling centres is free, but it requires a vehicle and time for those bigger items. If you don't have either of those, you could consider the council's bulky waste collection service or a private man & van collectors.
